The Mural Artist will collaborate with Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers (LVCC) students to create, design and execute a mural project that celebrates the convergence of STEM education with the arts to be installed at the all-new Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown, PA.
The LVCC student population is composed of 300 preschool and K-8 young people from across the Lehigh Valley region.

Mural wall dimension 16’h X 24’w 16’h x 16’w location 800 block of Hamilton Street Allentown, PA.
Budget
The Project budget for the Da Vinci Science Center – Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers is $24,000 paid by LVACA in three equal installments at the inception, mid-point and completion of the project. The amount is inclusive of all supplies, rentals and insurances. Contract terms will be forthcoming to the artist selected for the project.

Project Timeline
Phase 1: Theme Development
Artist to create worksheets which will determine creative elements of the mural design.
All students across LVCC will participate in completing Phase 1 worksheet.
Worksheets returned to the mural artist and synthesized into a Phase 2 worksheet.
Phase 2: Element Development
Artist to create a Phase 2 worksheet which will help determine creative elements of the final mural design.
All students across LVCC will participate in completing Phase 2 worksheet.
Worksheets will be returned to the artist and will help inform the initial draft[s] of the mural design.
Phase 3: Mural Design
Artist to take the input from the worksheets to create the design which in turn will be vetted by the Da Vinci Center, LVCC, LVACA, municipal authorities and community members for final approval.
Phase 4: Community Days
Artist will host 100-150 Students in small groups over a period of days to take part in hands-on engagement in the creation of the mural.
Students will be of school age to keep the process manageable.
Community Days will be hosted at either the former / future Da Vinci Center or at the Alliance Hall facility at LVCC.
LVCC will be responsible for all student transportation to the Community Days site and supervision of the students while participating in the event.
Artist Eligibility
Mural Artist Call is open to all artists with preference given to those who live and work in the Lehigh Valley. Artist must have their own transportation, insurance and all associated background checks and clearances to work with minors.
Artist will need an Assistant to install the final parachute cloth mural on the building.
